How it all started

From the spark of an idea to the realisation of a dream, the journey of Travels by Trine started with a motivation to help other solo female travellers to pursue their travel dreams and encourage them to take the first step.

My story

My name is Trine and my passion is to travel. The past ten years I’ve travelled to more than 30 countries around the world, but it hasn’t always been like that.

As a child my family and I didn’t travel much. We spent most summers in a holiday house in Denmark, where I’m from.
At the end of elementary school I wanted to attend a language school in England to improve my English, which I did. At that time I was an insecure teenager with a dream that would apparently change my life!
Firstly, I conquered my fear of flying and afterwards developed an eagerness towards adventures and personal development through solo travels.

In my early grown up years I travelled mainly with family and friends, but for the past five years I’ve mostly been travelling solo. Solo travelling has for me become the key to more self confidence, self belief, and feeling of self worth.

I have always been curious about other people, their perspectives, their culture, traditions, and religion. I probably should have studied anthropology, but instead I have a bachelor in social education and a masters in educational psychology.
After four years in the field, being passionate about helping others with their mental health issues, I forgot myself and developed my own. I burned out from too much stress, developed panic anxiety, and was on sick leave for several months.
Since then I’ve fought my way back to a passionate life and tried to find the right path for me in a new reality.
My new reality is to live off of my passion and continue to help others – just in a slightly different way than I did before.

Why I created this blog?

Solo travelling has become such a big passion of mine that I now want to encourage other women to travel solo as well.
Too many women are afraid to take the first step as a solo traveller because of their fear of something bad happening to them. The truth is something bad can happen anywhere, and the world will not continue waiting at your feet.
I find this dilemma sad, since I don’t see men struggling with the same fear. They just go out there with much less worry.
To motivate other women to start their solo travel adventure I have created this travel blog. Here you’ll find all you need to know, if you’re starting your adventure from scratch, if you just need some tips or ideas about where to go, or where to stay and feel safe, when you travel alone.
As a bonus I’ve also created itineraries for several locations you can buy. If you want help to plan your next adventure, I’ll help you create a personal one.
You are always welcome to reach out to me if you have any questions about my blog posts, something you want to know more about, give feedback etc. Otherwise, I hope you’ll enjoy reading along on my adventures.
